The upper left molar tooth is loose due to periodontal disease destroying the bone around the roots. Extraction is the only alternative for teeth where periodontal disease is severe.
The bone and gum tissue around the tooth is infected so it is surgically removed. This picture shows the extraction site closed with sutures to complete the extraction.
